By cancer type

As NHS England publishes them; “–” means fewer than 20 patients. Cancer types are grouped more coarsely from October 2023 than before, and the Faster Diagnosis Standard uses its own “suspected cancer” groups. “(a)” after a name is NHS England’s own footnote marker in the file.

What each standard measures

  • Faster Diagnosis Standard: “78.6% of people were told if they had cancer, or if cancer was definitively excluded within four weeks (28-days) of an urgent referral” (England, August 2026). NHS England’s operational standard is 80%.
  • 31-day combined standard: “92.1% of people treated began first or subsequent treatment of cancer within 31 days of receiving a decision to treat/earliest clinically appropriate date” (England, August 2026). NHS England’s operational standard is 96%.
  • 62-day combined standard: “71.9% of people treated began first definitive treatment of cancer within 62 days of an urgent suspected cancer referral, breast symptomatic referral, urgent screening referral or a consultant upgrade” (England, August 2026). NHS England’s operational standard is 85%.

How to read these figures

August 2026 is provisional. NHS England says: “Monthly data are released as provisional data and subsequently finalised in line with the NHS England revisions policy.” These figures can therefore change when NHS England revises them, and Docorix updates them when it does.

“Within the standard” counts patients who met it. Providers differ in size and in the cancers they treat, so Docorix lists them A to Z and does not rank them. Counts in NHS England’s file can include halves. NHS England’s release lists any provider that did not submit, or submitted only part of its data, in an annex; check it before drawing conclusions about a single provider (monthly statistics page).

Cancer types for the 31-day and 62-day standards are grouped more coarsely from October 2023 than before, and the Faster Diagnosis Standard uses its own “suspected cancer” groups, so the type tables on provider pages are not directly comparable with figures from before October 2023.
