Every provider that reports Cardiothoracic Surgery

Listed A to Z. You can re-order the table by any column, but Docorix does not rank providers: trusts differ in size, in the patients they treat and in the cases they take, so a larger or smaller number is not by itself better or worse. 9 providers with fewer than 10 pathways in this specialty are not listed. – means fewer than 50 pathways, too few for a percentage to mean much.

The integrated care board is the “Provider Parent” organisation in NHS England’s file; it is not always the board for the area where a provider’s sites are.

How to read these figures

NHS England counts incomplete pathways: in its words, “waiting times for cases where patients are still waiting to start treatment at the end of the month”. Each pathway runs from a referral for consultant-led care to the start of treatment, so one patient can appear more than once if they are waiting for more than one thing. NHS.uk gives “18 weeks” as the maximum waiting time for non-urgent, consultant-led treatment (NHS.uk guide to waiting times).

These are figures about the waiting list, not a forecast of how long a new patient will wait, and they do not cover urgent or cancer care, which NHS England reports separately. A trust’s waiting times can differ widely between specialties, so the specialty tables are usually more useful than the totals. Trusts are listed A to Z; Docorix does not rank them, because trusts differ in size, in the specialties they offer and in the patients they treat. Ask your GP or use the NHS e-Referral Service to see which hospitals can see you and how long each is currently taking.
