Using an urgent treatment centre

What urgent treatment centres treat and when to use one.

This is general guidance for England. It is not about any one provider, and it is not medical, legal or financial advice. Every statement below comes from the official pages listed under “Official guidance”, checked on 4 October 2026.

Using an urgent treatment centre

What they treat
Sprains and strains, suspected broken bones, injuries, cuts and bruises, stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhoea, skin infections and rashes, high temperature, mental health concerns and emergency contraception.
Not for emergencies
They are for when it is not a life-threatening emergency. You may be able to book through NHS 111 online; the most unwell patients and those with an appointment may be seen first.

Official guidance

Rules and charges change, usually each April. Check the official pages before you rely on a figure.
